CHILDREN AND MEDIATION
Mediation regarding issues relating to children can help parents decide on:
- Arrangements around time spend with the children (including holidays and special events)
- Schools
- Health issues
- Parenting styles/discipline
- Financial support
- Communication
- Involvement of other family members
Child Inclusive Mediation offers children of an appropriate age the opportunity to see a mediator on their own (or in sibling groups) if they choose to in order to express their views on the dispute. It is made clear to the children that they are not deciding the matter and they can choose if their views are made known to the parents after the session. The purpose of child inclusive mediation is to give the children a voice.
